Sitting on my couch, the window is half open, letting in a soft breeze. The greenery outside catches my eyes. Its stillness oddly comforting. I lean back slowly into the cushions letting the world outside blurr for a moment. My thoughts wander, retracing paths I've walked, choices I've made and dreams I've tucked away.
In this moment I'm stealing time for myself. Hiding from the noise of the crowd and the constant hum of expectations. After all the chaos, all the rushing, all the pretending to keep up this feels like a secret rebellion. Choosing to pause choosing to just be.
The hemlock of life slowly goes down my throat. Its bitterness lingering in my chest. But in these stolen moments I find the only antidote that works—silence, solitude, and the quiet act of remembering who I am beneath it all. It doesn't cure the heaviness, but it soothes it, softens its edges and for now that's enough.
