For many people, the notion of having sex with a doll conjures up very unpleasant imagery. People assume that anybody who would do this is creepy, awkward, or unable to get a real person sexually aroused. Worse, the use of sex dolls is often associated with individuals who fantasize about engaging in taboo sex acts that involve a lack of consent or would even be illegal if a real person is involved.
There's a problem with this line of thinking. If it is okay to demonize people who use sex dolls because of the behaviors or preferences of a subset of that group, then shouldn't that line of thinking apply to others? The truth is that there are heterosexuals who regularly violate the rules of consent. Not every member of the BDSM community is respectful of their partner's safe word. Despite this, we recognize that not everyone in these communities is guilty of doing any such thing.
