Another me

~Aparnah
I long for the days of simplicity,
When I could be myself without fear.
But now I live in a world of duplicity,
Where authenticity is lost, not near.
The mask I wear grows heavier by the day,
I smile and nod, pretending to fit in.
But deep down, I know I've lost my way,
Caught in a web of lies, a life of sin.
I yearn for the solitude of the night,
When the stars above shine bright and clear.
In their light, I see a glimpse of what's right,
A reminder that truth is always near.
So I'll keep searching for that other me,
The one who embraces silence and peace.
For only then will I truly be free,
And from this facade, I'll finally release.
I'll shed the layers of falsehood and lies,
And let the real me shine through.
No longer bound by a fake disguise,
I'll be me, unapologetically true.
