When someone hurts us, we need to realize that it is because this person is hurting inside. They are only projecting their pain outward. What may appear as anger, abuse, or mistreatment on the surface, is really a deeper cry for help. This does not mean that they are justified in their actions, but it means that they are only human, and they suffer just like we do. Recognizing this we can have true compassion for that person, and can see beyond their projected actions, and can give them our love. By recognizing the truth that all words and actions reflect a deeper level of a person's state of being, we can see beyond the mere appearances of chaos, violence, and destruction, and can see the deeper level of suffering that lies at the root. By recognizing this we develop compassion, patience, and love for others, as we can see a reflection of our own suffering within them."
