Yes it's partially true. Criticise can be done by seniors to make understand the errors made by us and some times the person criticised didn't have the option or scope to do that work.
Criticism helps to give us a new perspective and opens our eyes to things we may have overlooked or never considered. Whether it's a peer review of our work or a performance review. Constructive criticism and feedback can help us to grow by shedding light and giving us the opportunity for improvement. Don't take criticism so personally, it's help us to learn and grow. It's is not an attack on our skills or character.
