Merry Christmas
My wish for you this Christmas is simple
to get snowed in,
letting only the windows chill
remind us there’s a world outside
to stay in
to slip into stillness
to make steaming hot chocolate
and watch the snow drift down
to get every blanket we can find and
wrap ourselves in warmth
to watch the glow of holiday lights
glitter in your eyes
to rewatch our favorite movies like they are brand new
to laugh at the same lines
quoting them as though we haven’t memorized every word
to stay up so late we lose track of time
letting the night slip by
to fall asleep in each other’s arms
to feel nothing but the quiet certainty of you
The gift of love.
The gift of peace.
The gift of happiness.
May all these and more be yours this Christmas.
