When a person loses his memory, he forgets everything but why does he not forget his language?

Long term memory such as language, eating, dressing, are stored in a different part of the brain, therefore amnesia doesn't effect those, it does however effect short term memory or "episodic" memory, the ability to recall specific dates or experiences.

Language is a unique aspect of human cognition, and its relationship with memory is complex. When someone loses their memory, it's often due to damage to the brain's hippocampus and temporal lobe, which are responsible for forming and storing new memories.

However, language is stored in a different part of the brain, primarily in the left hemisphere, particularly in areas like Broca's and Wernicke's. These areas are responsible for language processing, production, and comprehension.
