Why doctors never prescribe the medicines they ask patients to take? without any proper instructions or direction how to take it?.

Well i faced it few days ago, a doctor prescribed me to take some medication before food, but i was so confused when should i take it? like, take the pills and go have my food all the sudden? or just wait for minutes so the pills will take any effect before i have my food.

Then i have to google for more information, and found out, i should take the pill at least 30 minutes before i have any food. Which makes sense becoz i read a lot of information what does the pill do to my body.

Well, i knew how to google and found the info. What about the rest of people in the world?

Lets talk more about this and related issues you have faced.

Yeah,I knew that, this 30mins before stuff .Its a benchmark.May be doctor are too casual to admit this as if they think its somthing like understood to us like universal truth:Cwl: .
Well that mostly applies(before food)to alopathy/homeo/ayurveda too.
and in some cases also prescribed to take after food!

Thats the mistake most doctors make- they miss out on educating their patients and fail to instruct them properly . Few leave that job to the paramedical staff which is not a good sign in the doctor - patient relationship.

Every doctor takes the Hippocrates oath of which - To do no harm - comes first and he is obliged to follow that. So it is a part of to have educated you !

Even if it was missed out in the briefing you have all rights to walk in and ask him again !

If we try to ask him again, He would say pay the fee and comeback again!! :Cwl:
I don't know whether to say this or not as they were the sole part of corona situation now!!And they were treated as gods for taking their responsibilities with dare!!
But theres a dark side to this money making industry !!
I recently had mild cough and I visited doctor and he charged me entry fee as Rs 350/- Damn!!
And later he prescribed medicines and it costed Rs 700 /-
Yes ,I believe doctors are needed and they are definitely gods saving our lives every now and then!! But making a business out of people lives is something to worry about!!
We see Now a days, Corona treatment became too costly and people were selling their properties to cure their loved ones!!
I don't know if it is fault of the system or the people who are took part in it!! But this dark business is what I more concerned about??!!

But in India, Its a big business kind of stuff @Melody :Cwl: 98% of Indian hospitals got their own medical shops and they prescribe medicines which are too costly than people will sell their gold to buy them and if that person ultimately die may be its because of careless ness of the staff or doctor or might be genuine effort might be put into it but still it didn't!!
But If that person dies , the family members dont have right on that dead bodies until they pay left out fees!!
Theres a saying like, work hard all the year 24/7 day and night but you would surely couldn't match the money making efficiency of Indian doctors especially in private hospitals!!:Cwl:Making money is good but at the cost of persons lives is lolzzz:Cwl:

@Melody , Sorry If your feelings got hurted , but every doctor isn't like that !! He may be sweetest doctor like you!! ;)

Some medications should be taken on an empty stomach. This is usually because food prevents the medication from being fully absorbed into the body.

If your medication needs to be taken on an empty stomach, take it 2 hours before meals or 2 hours after your last food with a full glass of liquid (usually water). Some medications that should not be taken with food should also not be taken with milk.

As a general rule, medicines that are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach should be taken about an hour before a meal, or 2 hours after a meal. Forgetting these instructions on rare occasions is unlikely to do any harm, but taking these medicines with food regularly may mean they don't work.

Almost every doctor has a own medical shop so that the medical shop person will explain you in detail.

Personally, I have always found it interesting to find out and read information about different medicines myself. You have to understand what the medicine does to you . It is healthy human curiosity . I think everyone needs it. I was prescribed visionace for my eyes. I did not understand everything the doctor wrote, so I had to Google around a bit. But you know, it was for the best. That's how I found out what it was all about.
