It reminded me of a poem I read in high school, written by Rabindranath Tagore
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depths of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my world awake. (replaced the word "country" with the word "world")
Would we ever get to witness the world Tagore dreamed of?
As long as men, driven by greed and unreasonable desire think, they are superior and feel the need to dominate and control others, such a world will never come. There will always be innocents who suffer and die. Collateral damage we call them, fucking collateral damage!! And those who survive will bear the mark of death, suffering, left behind to tell the tales of horror, living in fear that they may have to go through it again and again.
