Chapter 4.

The hag stood in the centre of her dwelling, watching and spying through a scrying pool, a large shallow brass bowl filled with a murky smokey silvery liquid. She clapped and cackled in celebration at seeing the butcher's demise, the shock, confusion on the looks of the crying childrens face made her smile with satisfaction.

The hairs on Rubians arms and neck stood on end as body shuddered in disgust while watching the old witches' reaction from the opposite end of the cave. There was a sudden hissing noise coming from the far corner, a round object covered in a dark blue satin cloth. Rubian walked forward, the old creepy hag catching up with him. “Oh, yes, yesss indeed, tis’ about time” The witch suddenly grabbed Rubian by the neck with surprising speed and strength pushing his face towards the orb. A mist formed inside, until blue wispy smokey figures started to form, the hag croaked;

“Here cometh the next age, a champion of no name, will come forth and engage, striking cords of honour with races bound, defining peace and prosperity as wings are renewed and stretched to the continents horizons, strong he be if answers be found, from the din of war he is but to be renowned.”

“Stop croaking riddles old hag” Snapped Rubian finally pulling himself away. “What the hell does this mean?”

The witch staggered back before regaining her composure. “That Rubian is the new prophecy, that you, Thomaz and someone else will be evolved in. THIS cannot come to be!”

Rubian slumped in a nearby chair deep in thought, his red eyes flashed darker as something crossed his mind, it’s a prophecy of a newborn that grows to be strong, we’ve no idea of race or creed… if we could persuade him to join us, we’d be a force of nature!”

The creepy old hag smiled and nodded in agreement and simply replied “I’ll look more into this, now go, you are wanted elsewhere it seems” She croaked looking up towards the cave ceiling as King Thomaz’s voice could be faintly heard in the distance screaming for Rubian to be in his attendance.

“My liege, I am here, but there is something you need to know, the ‘sore eyes’ my lord, has cometh with a prophecy”

“For fuck sake Rubian, bring her to the throne room!”

King Thomaz sat up on his throne, watching in disgust as the hag witch woman walked along the long carpet, hissing and snarling as every ray of sunshine touched her skin. Eventually standing before the king she did an unsteady curtsy. Rubian stood back a few steps.

“The prophecy, my King, speaks of a child of origins unknown, with power, so much power my King that could end the king of King’s reign, born soon he will… my king!”

Thomaz sat in thought for a moment, suddenly reaching to his left and snatching his goblet full of wine from the maid by his side, drinking the contents of the goblet quickly he wiped his mouth with his sleeve. His hazel eyes flashed in anger, “Rubian, kill all newborn males,”

He stood up, walked down the short steps shoving the old hag out of his way, sending her flying across the room, and shoulder barged into Rubian as he walked exciting the room.
