'Today is my farewell.'
I fixed my eyes on the text I sent, and instantly saw the blue tick mark. The 'typing...' indicator appeared, followed by a message:
"Don't forget to click photos, like every time. Don't forget to send them, Sundari."
I replied with a smiling sticker. I had chosen a red plain saree, but struggled to drape it. Thankfully, my friend arrived and helped me. Meanwhile, I remembered asking him to choose between blue and red, and he had replied,
"Choose whatever suits you well." After some persuasion, he agreed on red.
And then my friend came, with her help, I finally draped the saree and applied a quick makeup look – moisturizer, sunscreen, powder, eyeliner, and lip balm. I accessorized with a tiny chain, red glass bangles, jhumkas, anklets, and a new nose pin with a red stone.
After confirming everything was in place, I took a mirror selfie and sent it to him. The farewell party was long, but I enjoyed the dance performance with my friends.
As soon as I returned, I undraped the saree and lay down, exhausted. I checked my messages and found sweet replies from him to each of my photos.
"How was your day?" he asked. "It was boring but fine," I replied.
The chat continued, and I realized how strange it is that a stranger can change our feelings and mindset with just a few messages.
( just felt like leaving a write up like this - I think I got a writers block, lol)
