Shattered Heartbeats
“You always pull this!” Sros yelled, his tone laced with irritation.
Pavi stood frozen, her heart plummeting as she struggled to maintain her composure. “Pull what? I’m just trying to have a conversation, Sros. Why are you shouting at me?”
“Because it’s the same old story every single time!” he retorted, his temper flaring. “You never hear me out, Pavi! You twist my words until it feels like I’m the one to blame!”
“I’m not twisting anything,” Pavi countered, her voice quaking. “I just want to figure out what’s happening. Can’t we discuss this without all the drama?”
But Sros was too far gone to listen. His face reddened with rage as he stepped closer, his gaze piercing. “No, I’m finished with this! I’m exhausted from having the same fight repeatedly. It’s draining.”
“Please, don’t walk away,” Pavi pleaded, her voice cracking. She took a tentative step forward, reaching out as if to prevent him from leaving. “We can work this out. We’ve faced tougher challenges, haven’t we?”
But Sros merely shook his head, his frustration spilling over. “I can’t keep going in circles, Pavi. I’m done. You’re never going to change. Nothing will change.”
Her stomach twisted as she felt the weight of his words sink in. “You’re really giving up on us?” she asked, barely able to keep the tears at bay.
“I’ve been done for a while now,” he said coldly, turning his back to her. “I just didn’t know how to say it. I can’t keep trying if you won’t change.”
Pavi felt her knees go weak as the room seemed to spin around her. “No, Sros, please—don’t leave. After everything we’ve been through, you can’t just walk away.”
But he didn’t stop. He walked to the door, not even glancing back. “I’m done. It’s over.” He slammed the door behind him, leaving Pavi standing there, her chest tight with shock.
The atmosphere in the room shifted dramatically, enveloping her in a profound stillness that felt almost suffocating. Pavi stood there, momentarily paralyzed, as tears began to stream down her face. She had placed her trust in him completely, envisioned a life together, but in a heartbeat, everything she cherished was torn away.
The anguish washed over her like a relentless tide. She collapsed onto the floor, her body trembling as the tears poured out uncontrollably. The man she had believed would always stand by her side had turned his back, leaving her feeling small and shattered.
In a hushed voice, she murmured to herself, “How could he do this? How could he just walk away?”
Yet, there was no response. Just the haunting silence and the deep sorrow in her heart as she mourned the dreams they had shared, the love she thought would last forever.
