Marriage vs. Live-In Relationships: What's the Perspective of Different Generations?

The way people view marriage and live-in relationships has evolved significantly over the years. In earlier generations, marriage was seen as a sacred and permanent bond, an essential part of life. Today, live-in relationships, once considered taboo, have become more common, especially among the younger generation, as they prioritize compatibility and personal freedom over traditional norms.

What are your thoughts on this? Are live-in relationships a modern necessity, or do they challenge the foundation of marriage? Let's discuss the pros, cons, and societal perspectives!

Live in relationships are good till it's broken and both of them way apart. Marriage has a legal contract and support of law. Ofcourse there are divorces happening but it's not that easy like breaking a live in relationship. Freedom is not dependent on type of relationship, instead it depends on the people in the relationship. Possessiveness kills freedom, it could make life miserable going forward.

RN I think live-in relationships because majority of the married crowd ain't happy , but if I'm being real... the thought of one sided commitments and someone walking out the door one day terrifies me....hmmmm.. or may be... universe should help me find someone like adi as in Ok kanmani movie and we will be happy forever

To me, marriage is a sacred bond, but I also believe that live-in relationships can be just as beautiful. In today's world, many people are drawn to live-in relationships because they fear that marriage might clip their wings, stifling their freedom and dreams. But the truth is, whether you're married or in a live-in relationship, conflicts are inevitable.

When two unique individuals come together, their differences can sometimes create friction. But it's how we navigate those differences that truly matters. Both partners must be willing to listen, to understand, and to support each other, even when the going gets tough.

For me, the key to a happy relationship isn't about whether you're married or not – it's about the love, respect, and commitment you share with your partner. So, whether you choose marriage or a live-in relationship, remember that it's the connection you share with your partner that truly matters.
Ultimately, both marriage and live-in relationships are valid concepts. Nevertheless, if you opt for a live-in relationship seeking greater freedom, yet genuinely loving the other person, you may find that the dynamics of the relationship remain unchanged.

Y WE in the last sentence..u and ur partner should be happy.

Jokes apart. My sincere advice for ppz who wana get married is, don get married. Cos marriage is for sure comes wit tons of adjustments as both are two different individuals from two different genes and culture. So if you ready to make those adjustments, den go for marriage..or else enjy life in soltitude
