Already spoke about this in another thread as a public view.

It depends on the FONT you use.

Some fonts need bigger sizes for visibility, but having a bigger font size for normal fonts is unacceptable.
 
I moved up in font size not long ago at the suggestion of a user to make my posts more visible in chat. I'm currently using 16, which is larger than the default size, but, smaller than the 18 size which looks blinding to the room. 16 is the way to go, moving up from the default setting. ;)
