Do you eat healthy food even if you don't like the taste of it

Do you eat healthy food even if you don't like the taste of it, because you know it's good for you?

Generally, calorie dense foods such as meat and sweets are considered more desirable to taste than lower calorie dense foods. This is driven from a primordial desire to consume foods that provide more calories. This mechanism worked great for our ancestors for survival, but not so great when an abundant supply of calories exists.

The truth is that once we control our desire to consume calories, the actual taste preference of various foods is learned. The more calorie dense foods can easily be replaced with healthy foods through repetition and good preparation. For example, the overcooked green beans that were shunned as tasteless can easily be steamed and included in tasty meals. But, like most worthwhile things in life, it takes some time and effort.

Understanding that these foods are good for you gives you the knowledge necessary of what foods you should focus on for including in your diet. The good news is that, with practice, you will soon prefer these foods over the calorie-dense types that cause chronic disease. It just requires some training and dedication.
