Here in where I live, 2 years from now, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) will be available for people suffering from mental illness with strict guidelines and protocol of course. This means you don’t have to be terminally ill to be eligible. I have always been a proponent of having the right to die with dignity because it’s your life and your choice. If you want to end your life gracefully, painlessly and without guilt, you should be free to do so. I don’t believe in the sanctity of life even so on the adage that life is precious. If your life sucks and pointless, you might as well end it and nobody would even care in the long run.
Incidentally, there is a humanist named Philip Nitschke who invented a suicide pod called Sarco. It has a self administered death device for peaceful demise. You can have it 3D printed and hopefully in the near future, it will be made available so you can order it thru Amazon prime. Every corner in the street next to Starbucks or McDonald’s should have one of this. This will solve a third of the world’s problem.
