Well said dk, people often mistake black n white as colours but the truth being one absorbs all colour wavelength another reflects it
 
In layman terms, the first ever TV was in black and white colour... It might have called as colour tv... But after the emergence of RGB colour TV... People need to different between RGB tv and B&W tv... So ended up that way...
